The Assistant Director of Content is a key role within the dynamic, innovative Marketing and Communications team at Chicago Booth, a world-class business school with campuses in Chicago, London, and Hong Kong. Reporting to the senior associate director of content strategy within the Content & Communications team, the Assistant Director of Content will support the planning, strategy, and execution of content across all of Booth’s media channels, ensuring content is strategic, engaging, creative, error-free, effective, and communicated through Booth’s brand voice.

The Assistant Director will support content strategy and development across all marketing channels, including—including program sections, alumni content, our brand story section Why Booth, and our storytelling hub Booth Stories—as well as our enterprise social media channels, email marketing, paid media efforts, public relations and communications efforts, event websites, print content, and Booth partner content projects across all channels as needed.

This role requires strong all-channel writing, editing, and content creation skills, a strategic approach to content, and an aptitude for demonstrating how content comes to life in actual execution. The ideal candidate for this role is a storyteller with an eye for detail who has demonstrated—and seeks to improve—his or her abilities to execute content against strategy, as well as her or his knowledge of when content hits or misses the strategic mark.

The role also requires a collaborative spirit, and a passion and commitment for ongoing learning and developing new content skills and expertise.  


  • Writing and editing content for Booth across each of our channels, with a primary focus on digital channels for Booth’s key audiences—prospective students around the world, alumni audiences, and global business thought leaders.
  • Contributing to Booth’s storytelling and content creation efforts, including in Booth Stories on, as well as in social media and in email marketing.
  • Working in collaboration with the senior associate director of content strategy, as well as our brand strategy and digital engagement teams, to develop effective and evolving content strategies for all our marketing channels and test-and-learn new approaches to content marketing.
  • Supporting all content-related work with the department, including working in each of our content management systems and supporting other efforts, such as website content migrations into new templates.
  • Developing new pages and sections on, from initial website content strategy to building out pages within our CMS, Sitecore, helping ensure web pages meet best practices for content, SEO, and overall digital engagement.
  • Supporting content strategy development and strategic content execution for social media, email, our storytelling hub, public relations, events, as needed.
  • Other writing, editing, and proofreading responsibilities as assigned.



  • A Bachelor’s degree in a writing-related field, such as journalism, English, or communications.
  • Between 2-5 years of experience in content development within a brand, agency, or publishing environment. Previous work in higher education or other nonprofit space a plus.
  • Experience researching and outlining strategic approaches to content across media channels a plus.
  • Experience working in content management systems, including web content management systems, social platforms, email, and other systems. Sitecore experience a plus. Marketo experience a plus.
  • Strong project management, analytical problem solving, and troubleshooting skills required.
  • Excellent editorial judgement and strong storytelling skills across channels, as well as outstanding oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work both independently and as a part of a matrix team environment team required.
  • Ability to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
  • Experience integrating SEO keywords into copy in order to ensure content is optimized for search engines.
  • Impeccable attention to detail required.
