Established as one of the first settlements in the western Americas in the early 1700s, the Alamo still stands as one of the nation's most treasured historic sites. The Alamo Complex Management is an entity of the Alamo Endowment, and was established to manage the Alamo in 2015. With more than 2 million visitors a year, the Alamo, which is owned by the State of Texas, is one of the state and the nation's most beloved historic treasures. The future looks bright at the Alamo, as the City of San Antonio and the State work together to revision and redevelop the entire area to expand and enhance the visitor experience, including building a new, world class museum and visitor center.
