The Council on Accreditation (COA) is an independent nonprofit international accreditor of community-based social service and behavioral health organizations. Founded in 1977 and originally known as an accrediting body for children's and family services agencies, COA now accredits or is in the process of accrediting over 2,000 organizations or programs that serve more than 7 million individuals and families each year. COA’s mission is to partner with human service organizations worldwide to improve service delivery outcomes by developing, applying, and promoting accreditation standards.
