What We Do
We manufacture the highest quality American-made fertilizer application equipment in the market. We innovate and lead. Since 1996, we have added to our product line to help our customers with production and application challenges such as reducing maintenance, increasing speeds, conservation tilling, and application on rough terrain. Our diverse product line includes Mobility dry fertilizer spreaders, liquid nitrogen applicators, anhydrous ammonia toolbars, running gears, nurse trailers, and row units.
Our customers range from small hobby farmers to large commercial row-crop producers, and everything in between. Dalton Ag serves all of these segments because we understand the demand for increased production and efficient use of fertilizer required by all sustainable farming operations.

The legacy of Dexter Apache Holdings began with an ambitious young inventor named W.H. George. In the 19th century, as mechanical washing machines gained in popularity, he decided to improve on the existing designs and capabilities. He built several hand-powered washer models, and his business began to grow in size and prestige. The Dexter Company was formed in 1894 and began manufacturing wringer washers for retail sale in Dexter, Iowa.
In 1912, as the business operations outgrew the original factory, the company relocated to Fairfield, Iowa, where the headquarters and manufacturing operations remain today. In the years since, manufacturing operations have expanded beyond laundry to include additional manufacturing, financing and distribution channels.
In 1987 the Dexter employees purchased the company through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). Over the succeeding years, the employee ownership model facilitated rapid growth through intelligent and forward-looking acquisitions. In 2006, Apache Stainless was acquired and Dexter Apache Holdings, Inc. was formed. The company grew further with the acquisitions of Leer in 2008 and the Crystal Group in 2011. In 2014, Dalton Ag was added to the Group, rounding out a diverse portfolio of successful manufacturing companies.
By diversifying its business interests and applying the Dexter Apache culture, they have made themselves leaders in every industry that they have entered. Our Company
Dalton Ag Products is a brand forged in America’s heartland. And as a product of that productive farmland and rich agriculture heritage, we are proud to be the premier fertilizer application equipment manufacturer. Our company was founded in 1996 by Dick Dalton in Lenox, Iowa. He owned the company for almost 11 years, and after selling it he continued to manage it until he retired in 2014.
In the succeeding years, Dalton Ag has become a market leader in manufacturing ammonia toolbars, Mobility dry fertilizer spreaders, liquid nitrogen applicators, and wagon chassis for ammonia tanks. Our products are simple, durable, and American. In January 2014, Dalton Ag was acquired by Dexter Apache Holdings, Inc. from Fairfield, Iowa, bringing a bright new future to our company. We are now 100% employee-owned and we are committed to staying on the forefront of the agriculture industry. Dalton Ag’s experienced management team continues to grow the company through hard work, innovation, and dependable customer service.
