Hubbell Realty Company has been a catalyst for development in the Greater Des Moines area for almost 160 years. Tracing its presence in Iowa as far back as 1856, the company has mastered a balance between its historical traditions and its possibilities for the future.

Company History
Since the 1850s, Hubbell Realty Company has been a catalyst for growth in Des Moines. It began in 1855 when 16-year-old Frederick M. Hubbell arrived in Fort Des Moines with nothing but drive and determination. His vision led him into many different business ventures, including organizing Des Moines’ first streetcar company, forming Equitable Life Insurance Company of Iowa, investing in railroads, purchasing and developing properties, and forming the
Des Moines Water Company. All were enterprises that enhanced the growth and quality of life of his adopted hometown.
Since that time, the Hubbell name has become synonymous with community advocacy and real estate in central Iowa. Incorporated in 1903, Hubbell Realty

Benefits
Medical Insurance - Medical coverage is through Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield. The company pays 80% of the single and 55% of the family premiums. Options for medical coverage include a PPO plan or a high-deductible health care plan (HDHP). This premium will be withheld on a tax-deferred basis. Associates are eligible the first day of the next month following continuous employment.
Dental Insurance – Hubbell Realty Company offers associates an opportunity to participate in a voluntary dental plan with Delta Dental. A voluntary plan does not allow the company to contribute any portion of the associate premium, however, Hubbell Realty Company makes an annual contribution of $120 to the account of each associate participating in the Flexible Benefits Plan to help offset dental premiums. The premium for dental insurance is withheld on a tax-deferred basis through our Flexible Benefits Plan. Associates are eligible the first day of the next month following continuous employment.
125/Flexible Benefits Plan - All full-time associates are eligible to participate in this plan for out-of-pocket medical/dental expenses or dependent care.
Health Savings Account (HSA) – All full-time associates participating in the HDHP are eligible to participate in a health savings account. Hubbell Realty Company makes $120 annual contribution and a $20 contribution to the HSA each pay period.
Long-term Disability - The company will pay the entire premium for long-term disability insurance. Associates are eligible the first day of the next month following continuous employment.
Term Life Insurance - Hubbell Realty Company provides an amount equal to 200% of an associate’s gross annual salary. You can purchase an equal amount through payroll deduction. Associates are eligible the first day of the next month following continuous employment.
401(k) Plan - Associates have the ability to participate in the 401(k) salary deferral plan through a payroll deduction of their own funds after completing six months of employment. The company will match 100% of what is contributed to a maximum of 5% per year. Associate contributions and matching funds are 100% vested at all times.
Sick Leave - Full-time associates accrue one day per month with no limit to days accrued. Associates are also allowed to use sick time to care for a member of their immediate family who is ill and requires medical attention.
Vacation - Full-time associates accrue vacation on a monthly basis and are eligible to take vacation after six months of continuous service as follows:
Non-exempt Employees:
0 to 2 years - 10 days
3 to 10 years - 15 days
11+ years - 20 days
Exempt Employees:
0 to 2 years - 10 days
3 to 7 years - 15 days
8 to 10 years - 20 days
11+ years - 22 days
Employee Assistance Program – Full-and part-time associates and members of their immediate households are eligible to receive free counseling services through The Assistance Center.
Apartment Rental Discount – Hubbell associates residing in a Hubbell-owned apartment complex are entitled to a 20% discount on their rent.
Hubbell Homes Purchase Plan – Full-time Hubbell associates employed for one year are eligible to participate in an associate Hubbell Homes purchasing plan.
Fitness Reimbursement Policy - Hubbell will reimburse on an annual basis 50% of an associate’s single YMCA membership or health club membership, race/event participation and/or weight-loss programs up to a maximum of $300 per associate.
Holidays - Full-time associates are paid for the following holidays:
New Year’s Day
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving and the Friday following
Christmas Day
Pay Periods - Pay periods are biweekly and run Saturday through Friday. Paychecks are distributed every other Friday morning.
No Smoking Environment – Effective July 1, 2008, Hubbell Realty Company’s corporate campus/premises became smoke-free. The policy applies to all employees, associates, contractors and visitors. The company premises refer to all areas of buildings occupied by employees, associates, contractors, vehicles owned by the company, sidewalks and green space surrounding the building, patio and parking lots.
