The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business invites applicants for the Michael D. Johnson Family Professorship of Services Marketing in our Marketing and Management Communication Area, with a school affiliation in the Nolan School of Hotel Administration. This professorship can be filled at the tenured associate or full professor level. The intended start date for this position is July 1, 2027. The position will be based in Ithaca, NY.
Responsibilities of the position include research in area(s) of expertise, teaching courses in marketing at the undergraduate, master's, and/or Ph.D. levels, supervision of doctoral candidates, and service to the Area, School and/or College.
The ideal candidate will possess a PhD in Marketing or a related field (e.g., economics, psychology, statistics, behavioral science, etc.) and a tenurable publication record in top-tier marketing journals as well as publications in hospitality, travel, or service-focused journals. The candidate should be able to effectively communicate with hospitality industry leaders and have a strong record of teaching courses at the undergraduate, masters, and executive levels. A track record of high-quality research relevant to the service industry is required. The candidate must be willing to develop expert knowledge of services marketing in the hospitality industry.
The Cornell SC Johnson College of Business (established on July 1, 2016) combines three Schools: the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management (Johnson), the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management (Dyson), and the Nolan School of Hotel Administration (Nolan). Faculty across the three Schools of the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business actively collaborate in a unified Marketing and Management Communication Area, which includes 21 tenure-track marketing faculty. It is expected that our faculty teach across multiple schools within the College of Business.
The Cornell Peter and Stephanie Nolan School of Hotel Administration is the top-ranked management program worldwide, with undergraduate, masters, and Ph.D. programs. The Nolan School of Hotel Administration (Nolan) has approximately 800 undergraduates and 60 graduate students. Founded in 1922, Nolan is an AACSB accredited business school, with a resident faculty of 65 and over 10,000 alumni worldwide. Important resources available to faculty include extraordinary access to industry leaders, excellent research funding, the Center for Hospitality Research (CHR), and the cultural and intellectual resources of the Cornell University community.

In compliance with New York's Pay Transparency Act, the minimum annual base salary range for this position is $220,000 - $450,000. This pay range represents base pay only (for 9 months, paid over 12 months) and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, or other items. Cornell University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
